This 50k trail course includes the most spectacular, rugged, single track trail in the SouthEast.
The ridge line trail is called “The Grand Canyon of the East.” For good reason…
The 50 km course ascends from Lake James on a gravel road, then along the Mountains-To-Sea trail above Linville Gorge Wilderness Area. This rugged out-and-back course features Chimney Gap, The Chimneys, Tablerock Mountain, and Gingercake Mountain. This is a remote wilderness ecosystem. We learned on 4.17.13 that we were not able to obtain permits from our friends at the USFS for 2013. So we encourage you to enjoy these trails on your own or with some friends. Be competitive.
Check out these spectacular photos, course maps, and elevation change charts… then, “Run it if you can.”
These distances are approximate. The course is well marked. Detailed maps and turn-by-turn instructions will be provided to registrants. Then you will post your time. If we have sufficient interest we will provide awards to the 2013 runners.
The date for this event is ongoing. You run it, any time during 2013, and post your score at any time. You may have been doing this for years. We call it the next generation of trail running.
Do you think you are ready for the Lake James Run challenge?
We are always looking for hearty runners. Please join us!
